The suspect and victim were in a motel room together, and the suspect stabbed the victim, investigators say.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead, becoming the city’s 11th homicide victim this year.

Tanas Shmagranovski, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene, officials said.

鈥淲e can appreciate how difficult and how troublesome these situations are for members of the community,鈥� Duty Insp. Todd Jocko told reporters near the scene on Sunday.

Jocko said police can鈥檛 currently offer more information about the suspect and victim鈥檚 identities and relationship, the specific crime scene or the weapon involved.

鈥淚t is very early in the investigation,鈥� Jocko said, adding residents can expect an increased police presence as officers probe the incident further. 鈥淧lease know that we are dedicating the necessary resources.鈥�
